Electronic Reserves

Guidelines

To Place Readings on Reserve 

  1. Fill out Electronic Reserves Request form (Print form available in Reserves Processing and Maintenance Room FO 139).
  2. Submit course syllabus with items for each class.
  3. Submit the items to be placed on reserve: 
    • Physically to Reserve Processing, Founders Memorial Library (FO 139) or the Founders Memorial Library Circulation Desk 
    • By Campus Mail to Reserve Processing, Founders Memorial Library (FO 139) 
    • By email

Items that can be placed on Reserves

Faculty, teaching assistants and instructors can place 10 % of a printed item on electronic reserve, except: 

  • Entire work needs to be placed on Print Reserve.
  • Work is in the public domain.
  • Requester is copyright owner.
  • Permission has been obtained from copyright owner.
    • Permission must be obtained for each semester material is on Reserve.
    • Copy of permission must be on file in Reserves Office.
    • Owner of copyright defines percentage allowed.

Items that cannot be placed on Reserves 

  • Course Packs that are available at the campus bookstore.
  • Consumables (ex. workbooks).
  • Unpublished works, unless owned by requesting faculty member or the requester has obtained written permission which is on file with the Reserves Office.

The Reserves Services Unit reserves the right to decline a request if it violates the Library’s Reserve Policy or the Guidelines for Copyright and Fair Use.
