A limited number of laptops and power cords are available for checkout to NIU faculty, staff, and students on a first-come, first-serve basis. The laptop check out cabinet is located to the left of the elevators on the first floor of Founders Memorial Library. You need a valid OneCard to initiate the check out and return procedures.  Please follow the instructions on the cabinet or ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk or Reference Desk. The loan period is 24 hours. Fees will be assessed for late returns, and for any for laptop reported lost, damaged, or stolen. Please see the Laptop Checkout Policy for details.

Charging Lockers

A charging cabinet is available for use on the first floor of Founders Memorial Library, across from the Circulation Desk. The cabinet provides a secure place in which to leave your device(s) unattended to charge. Set your own personal combination to lock and later re-open an individual locker bay. A single locker bay can accommodate up to 3 devices. You must provide your own power cord(s). Please follow the instructions on the cabinet, or ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk or Reference Desk.

Charging Stations

Founders Memorial Library currently has one charging station located next to the Reference Desk on the first floor. Charging stations have generic power cords that fit a variety of Apple and Android devices. The University Libraries is not responsible for damage or theft to your device. Please do not leave your device unattended!

Collaboration Stations

Five collaboration stations are available for use by the NIU community on the first floor of Founders Memorial Library. They are made up of a large table, six chairs and a large (40") monitor equipped with a variety of ways (HDMI, VGA and DisplayPort) to connect it to laptop computers or mobile devices. Users connecting a device to the monitor may immediately display the contents of its screen on the monitor so that others seated at the table more view it more readily and in a larger format. They may easily display multiple devices on the screen in turn by simply unplugging one and plugging in another. The stations also provide electrical access for the charging of laptops and/or other devices.
