Researchers may use the RHCUA collections in person without appointment by visiting the Rare Books and Special Collections Reading Room (Founders 403) on Monday through Thursday from 9 am - noon and 1 - 4 pm. RHCUA collections are open to students, faculty, staff, and community members, and researchers are encouraged to contact us before their visit.
The RHCUA Office (Founders 400) does not currently have regularly scheduled walk-in hours, but researchers are able to schedule a visit during daytime library hours by contacting the RHCUA via phone (815-753-9392) or email with at least 48 hours’ notice. Please also use this contact information for research inquiries and reference requests.
The RHCUA Office is also available for pre-planned sessions with classes, alumni members, campus and community organizations, and other groups and individuals interested in using the collections or finding out more about them. To pre-schedule a visit to the RHCUA Office contact Brad Wiles (815-753-9392).
