Comic Books / Graphic Novels

The Comic Book and Graphic Novel Collection is based around several large donations from collectors. It consists of approximately 1,200 titles (over 4000 issues) of comic books, graphic novels and trade editions, and trade magazines and fanzines. Much of our comic book collection dates from the 1970s forward, with particular strength in the 1990s. We do not hold a significant number of Golden Age or Silver Age comics. A large portion of the collection is minimally processed, and there are gaps in runs of titles. We continually add to this collection, chiefly through donations.

H. P. Lovecraft

In the late 1960s, the collection was created by gathering library acquisitions originally held in the general stacks. The H. P. Lovecraft Collection contains material by and about Lovecraft, including his fiction writing, poetry, scientific works; collections of Lovecraft stories; manuscripts, chiefly letters; and biographies and books about Lovecraft.

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of American (SFWA) Collection

The Science Fiction and Fantasy literature collection covers a broad spectrum of books in both the science fiction and fantasy realms. Emphasis has been given to books nominated for the Nebula Awards, a large portion of which has been donated by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) and its members. SFWA titles published after 2014 are not well represented in the collection as almost all of these publications have been solely produced as e-books and have not been donated. The collection also contains holdings of SF magazines (1920s-) and the SFWA archives, which includes papers of the organization as well as its SF/F author members. For a full list of processed and available author papers, consult our finding aids. Web content (e.g., websites, blogs) for select authors has been captured and is available through Archive-It.
